CJL's 90th Reunion!

Hello, alums!

I hope you're gearing up for an awesome summer. How would you like to kick off that awesome summer with a fabulous weekend trip up to Lookout Mountain? This year is CJL's 90th anniversary, and we have a fantastic Reunion Weekend planned!

Reunion is Friday, June 1 - Sunday June 3, and you can download your reservation form to send in from the CJL website. Be sure to do this soon, though, because spots are filling up fast, and we may not have enough seats in the dining hall for everyone who wants to be a part of the weekend.

One of the big things we're doing this year is holding a silent auction that will benefit the Endowment Fund. The Endowment Fund was established to guarantee the future of CJL should we face difficult times, much like an insurance fund that provides income for the future of the camp. Our goal is to band one million dollars by 2022, which is CJL's 100th anniversary. We hope that we can raise $30,000 each year for the Fund, and by the power of compound interest, that will put us at our goal!

For the auction, we'll have art pieces donated by camp's many talented artists, as well as themed baskets donated by alums. If you can't make it to Reunion, don't worry--we plan to put up photos of the baskets and items online, on Facebook here and here, and on the CJL website. Click on the "For Alumnae" tab and there will be a link to "Silent Auction 2012." If you see things you like and want to make a bid by proxy, e-mail us at CJLalum@gmail.com and let us know the highest amount you'd be willing to bid, and we'll do the bidding for you!

If you're interested in donating items for the auction (art, gift certificates, vacations, gadgets, treasures, services, baskets, experiences, anything), send us an e-mail at the above address and we'll get with you. Remember that donations are tax deductible.

We hope to see you on the mountain soon!!

Snow at Camp!!

Sorry it's been a while since we last updated! Check out this amazing photo of the front gates, taken by alum Peggy Carter and her husband, immediate past Chairman of the Board Tommy Carter. How amazing is that? This was on the 3rd day of the "Snowpocalypse."

It's been a long time coming, but CJL has stepped it up and done a major overhaul on our website! Take a few minutes and check it out, then pass it along to friends, family, and others who might be interested in sending girls to camp!

Make sure CJL has your updated contact info!

Over the course of this year, some CJL Alum volunteers are going to try and clean up the alum database, and we want to make sure you all are a part of it, and that we have the correct information!

Please send your name, e-mail address, and current address to cjlalum@gmail.com!

We'll only use this information to contact you about camp. You can also check out the alum blog (which will hopefully be updated more often than in the past!) below. We look forward to hearing from you!

Follow CJL on Twitter!!

Want to make sure you are up-to-date on all CJL events! Follow the CJL Alumnae Association on Twitter!!

Just search for cjlalums in Twitter. We'll be Tweeting news about events, fund raising opportunities, and much, much more so spread the word.

Also, make sure you join the official Facebook group. Search for Camp Juliette Low Alumnae Association and join. This is another way to stay in the know.

Parent-Daughter Weekend 2010 A Hit!

Parent-Daughter Weekend 2010 was a huge success! Thanks to the alumna and staff who came to help out for the weekend, and to all the parents and prospective campers for giving us a reason to play at camp for a weekend before summer officially starts! We had a full house, with 19 tables in the dining hall, and even got to go play in the (very cold!) swimming hole on Saturday afternoon!

We hope all who came enjoyed the weekend, and that we'll get many new campers this summer from the weekend.

In other news, we still need a nurse for a week during the summer, someone to work in the trading post for a week, horseback assistants, and a ropes course director! If anyone knows of any ladies who might be interested in these positions, please have them contact the office at info@cjl.org.
